The 10-year drought is over! After being nominated three times and making it to the runner-up spot twice, we can finally say that we are a Better Business Bureau (BBB) Eclipse Integrity Award winner! The award is given to one business in each category that exemplifies the highest level of integrity in the marketplace. It is the “Grammy Award” for businesses.
The road to victory is a rigorous process. It has been 18 years since a law firm won the BBB Eclipse Integrity Award in Dayton. The 2020 nominations went out at the beginning of the year, and the businesses that were named as finalists were notified in April. The finalists were put through an intense judging process that required the businesses to put in countless hours to prove that they were worthy of this prestigious award.
The award winners are usually announced at a momentous event in the spring of each year. However, that was not the case this year due to the pandemic. The BBB had to get creative, so the award was announced “Publishers Clearing House Style.” If you recall, back in the 1980s, the sweepstakes company used to deliver checks the size of a small billboard by surprising winners after knocking on their doors. That method was how we found out on Monday, July 27, 2020, that we won the award. It was an exciting, fun-filled day, to say the least; there was a lot of celebrating at Roberson Law!
Winning this award is especially challenging for businesses like ours that operate in an industry that is not known for showing integrity. Lawyers are the butt of many jokes because of their reputations, making it especially difficult to win an award that is primarily based on character. We do our best to dispel the negative image of lawyers, and this is one way that we have proven our efforts.
We are humbled, grateful, and most of all blessed to have received this award. On July 29, 2020, we were one of the businesses featured on Living Dayton Television, and we were featured today in the Dayton Daily News. You will see us pop up in other media outlets through the end of the year.
