The Montgomery County Veterans Service Commission (MCVSC) is an important organization for Miami Valley residents. If you are a Veteran who lives in Montgomery County, you are entitled to receive assistance from the MCVSC free of charge. Some of the services that the MCVSC provides include:
Home loans
Funeral planning
Transportation assistance
Insurance of all kinds
Obtaining education
Financial hardship assistance
Pension assistance
To inquire about any of the above services, go to www.mcvsc.org or call 937.225.4801. If you are a Veteran, we recommend that you schedule an appointment with a Veterans Service Officer to discuss benefits to which you may be entitled. Every county in Ohio has a Veterans Service office.
The MCVSC is also providing special relief assistance due to COVID-19. The MCVSC states that “All Montgomery County Veterans who lost their source of income (even temporarily) due to their employers having to close/reduce their business hours due to COVID-19 may be eligible.”
There may be additional financial assistance available that could really help you in your current time of need, and it is very easy to apply. You just have to show proof that you lost a source of income due to the pandemic. To apply for special relief assistance through the MCVSC, go to the application here .
By the way, do you have a certified copy of your DD214 (military discharge record) in your possession? If not, get one!
